Dhorpatan – Nepal’s Hidden Himalayan Wilderness

Home to Himalayan blue sheep, tahr, leopards, bears, deer, wild boar, and 137 identified bird species. Vegetation includes pine, fir, birch, rhododendron, and high-altitude pasturelands. Offers unmatched views of the Dhaulagiri Himal and pristine alpine landscapes.

 

Culture & Local Life

Inhabited by Magar, Thakali, and Gurung communities with rich cultural traditions. Surrounding villages rely on the reserve for timber, fuelwood, and pasture. Dhorbaraha, a Hindu pilgrimage site, hosts an annual fair in August along the Uttarganga River.

 

Trekking & Adventure 

Trekking routes from Beni to Dhorpatan offer a 3-day immersive Himalayan experience. Blocks like Barse, Dogari, Gustang, Seng, and Sundaha provide wildlife spotting and panoramic vistas. Ideal for nature photography, bird watching, and high-altitude exploration.

Day 1: Kathmandu to Baglung/Palpa – Travel and acclimatization.
Day 2: Baglung/Palpa to Burtibang – Scenic journey into the hills.
